So, it's Obama

And here we go.  I think this election expresses, above all, the hatred, the astonishing hatred, we all feel for George W. Bush.  And, to be sure, he’s earned it.

So now the question becomes: what happens with Obama in office and Democratic control of both houses when they continue to carry on the same policies that Bush has carried on?  More military adventures, more attacks on personal freedom, more support for billionaires on Wall Street, no solution for the mass forclosures and unemployment.  What happens?  Rage, or apathy?  I’m betting on apathy and hoping I’m wrong.

Especially to Midori Snyder and Terri Windling for special award, non-professional (although: huh?) and to Ellen Datlow for the anthology Inferno.

And, out of courtesy to their sensibilities I will not now be gnashing my teeth and screaming about rigged elections because neither Will Shetterly nor Emma Bull won.  They would certainly not appreciate such a display on any level.

So I will quietly pout.

Yay Me

I happened to notice a comment in my LJ from some months ago pointing out that last September marked 25 years since the publication of Jhereg. 25 years. Weeee!

Overall, the best summation of my career so far is something Jerry Garcia said in response to a question about the annoyances of his lifestyle. He said something like, the idea that people are willing to pay money to be entertained by me is so amazing, it would be really small of me to complain about any part of it.

Yeah. Like that.

I love this life.
