Arse Elektronika – mini-update, with links

September 28th, 2008 by kit · No Comments

Hello from San Francisco! Our paper was well-received, and there have been a lot of interesting presentations this year. I’m enjoying the conference, although there have not been as many opportunities for conversation as there were last year, which is a shame.

We’ve both got a lot of thoughts on the conference which we’ll try to get written down, but for now you’ll have to make do with some links.

The presentation Reesa and I gave is, in essence, the first draft of a paper we’re going to publish in the near future. Its topic is one we’ve spent the last nine months researching, discussing, and debating here in Dream Café. In the end, it will be two papers: one a version of the one we gave at Arse Elektronika and another which details our recent research into Internet business models. We are going to be refining the talk as we finish the written version and complete the accompanying slideshow; we’re looking forward to opportunities to give our presentation again in the future. All of the above will be available under a creative commons license.

For now, you can listen to the mp3 version of our talk or any of the others from Day 1. Many of the links referenced during the talk can be found here in my delicious.

Reesa and I missed opening night due to visiting with family, but you can see pictures from those events here and here. No robot sex this time, but some interesting and artistic sexual machines on display.

San Francisco is a lovely place to visit. We’re enjoying our time here — the weather has been perfect and the people watching here is grand. Our schedule has been too full for much exploration, but we’re having a fabulous time.
