I like the big drums myself, but there's really no good way to transport them. I spent about $300 on an anvil case for my dumbek, and it works fine--only the damn thing weighs 55 lbs, so I get charged extra to check it.

There are definitely hauntings of neutral or even pleasant aspect...I'm sure it will be interesting discovering what your insubstantial housemate thinks of the new residents.

Hmm...I have a question for Steve and am not sure where else to put it, so I think I'll drop it here:

I would love to bring my big Djembe with me to Worldcon, but have no idea how to transport it safely, given its soft case and awkward dimensions (out of its case, it's 23 inches tall and over 14 inches wide counting the overflow hide). Off the top of my head, I couldn't think of anyone who might have more relevant advice on this particular issue, so...thoughts? Should I just give up on the sweet, sweet bass notes and stuff the mini-djembe in my big duffel, or would it be worth the effort to bring the big boy?

Glad the move is over! Not as glad as y'all are, I'm sure. Keep us updated on the hauntings.

If AGYAR taught us anything, it's that some ghosts are quite utterly bastard groovy.

-R.

(by the by, ever need some lifting done in MN, holler out and I'll make time--not that I expect you to MOVE back to the Great White North anytime soon.)
