Thanks to everyone (Firefly novel)

February 7th, 2008 by kit · 14 Comments

Thanks to the many people who have submitted either alternate formats or corrections to the Firefly, and will incorporate the rest soon — been slowed down by illness the last couple days, but we all really appreciate the response we’ve gotten to this.

BTW, according to our stats over 15,000 visitors have downloaded the novel since we “published” it.

    Hey!

I’ve never heard of you till now, found a link on the new blog at i09, and spent the last 3 hours straight, reading the firefly thing you wrote. It was amazing. This was def. a huge relief from the regular mind numbing stuff i have to force myself to read nowadays .

Thanks for the sleep deprived enjoyment, i will be looking for more!

Well, I downloaded it twice (once at work – once at home), but 15,000 is a very impressive number.

Thanks to *you*, kit, for pushing this like you have. Everybody appreciates it.

Wow, any more people and we’ll have enough for a movement!

Congrats, Steve! Cat and I knew it would be a hit. Now if I could get some more toner for my printer, so I can finish printing the dang thing. I have to stop 50 pages short! How depressing.

    Feel better, my friend!

attjen: That’s okay. I downloaded it once but I’m sharing the file with a friend. So it works out. ;)

Steve: Great stuff. Thank you for sharing your hard work with us. Would you mind if we put it up on a Bittorrent site? I could bundle it with your user bio.

Under the terms of the license there is no reason you can’t put it on a bittorent. However, if you can be patient a day or two I’ll be fixing a lot of the typos that we haven’t fixed yet, and I’d rather it go on a bittorent after I do that. I’ll make another post when I am done.

I grabbed the mobipocket version from feedbooks.com so that I could read it on my Kindle. Would you make sure they get an updated version when it’s ready.

Now.. to finish the book I’m currently working on so I can read this masterpiece. :)

Now all that’s needed is a donation button next to the download button so we can “BUY” the book.

Brad@7: Ok, I’ll get them the updated version when its done.

Mark@8: There are donation links elsewhere on the site, but the ethics of “selling” fanfic are decidedly murky. Steve can’t accept money for the Firefly novel, only money for being an awesome guy who wrote other awesome books (and happened to write a Firefly novel).

    kit: That’s exactly why I asked. :)

I’ll wait for the ‘final cut’.

If you need one in fbreader’s .fb2 format, I can send one for you real quick.

    Sandy: Thanks.

Any future typos anyone finds should be emailed directly to kit@dreamcafe.com.

Very nice novel. Thank you very much.

First, thank you for your contributions to sci-fi over the *cough* decades *cough*.

I just downloaded the Firefly novel and laughed rather hard at the Acknowledgments section.

You see, I published my own book (Carving for Kids ISBN: 1933502029) last year and wrote the entire book in emacs.

Nice to know that one of my favorite authors is similarly enlightened.
