Fourth Street was wonderful.
I came back, dived into revisions for Hawk, worked on a short story, started a brand new project, and am continuing working on the new Icrementalists novel with Skyler.
This is so much fun.
Finished a pass on Hawk, but reluctantly concluded it’s going to take at least one more, so working on that now (with the help of the lovely Jenphalian).
Anyway, Hawk ought to be done pretty soon.

Looking forward to Hawk! Just out of curiosity, I wonder if you can describe what happens to a book between being submitted to the publisher and being published (and why it seems to take so long?)
My editor reads it, comes back with suggestions. I do another rewrite based on those suggestions, and send it back. Assuming that version is approved, then the copyeditor gets it, looking for errors of spelling, inconsistencies (eg, different spellings of the same name), &c. Then it goes back to me again and I do another pass. Then the proofreader gets it for one final pass, and it comes back to me yet again.
Meanwhile, it is put onto the schedule. A cover layout is done, art is commissioned, cover copy made. My editor meets with marketing to figure if, I mean how, to publicize it. The cover is painted, checked, and worked into the layout.
That is at least some of what happens; I’ve probably left out many steps that I don’t know about.
Thank you. When trying to work it out mentally, I left out the artwork and formatting, I can see why that adds some time.
