Shadow Unit: Refining Fire

Inspired by this post by TxAnne (and, of course, by this).

The dad of a charming young beta
Found painful ways to send data.
Chaz was bleedin’ and smokin’
But has he been broken?
We’ll have to get back to you latah.

  1. No, but on this planet, two syllables are the right number for it to scan. I could have made it “a painful way” but it would have scanned wrong. You don’t tell me how to write limericks, I won’t tell you how to flip burgers.

  2. The last time I saw a burger flip it was due to an EP doc throwing a tantrum over her patient’s lunch selection.

  3. “A painful way” would also have scanned wrong, but it’s because the stress would have been on “a”, not because of the number of syllables.

  4. Heh heh heh. Excellent.

Poor Chaz. Is it March yet? I’ve been enjoying the reruns but I’m psyched about season 2.

  5. Reminds me of a conversation a friend of mine and I had a while back.

Me: How did Lord Byron die?
    Her: Lead poisoning.
    Me: Lead poisoning?
Her: Yeah. Too much of it was forced into his body at too great a speed.

  6. It reminds me of a poem I have been wanting to write, but am having a little trouble keeping from becoming a limerick. I call it “The Drunkard’s Lament”, its about the irony of how the very act that makes the drunkard happy (drinking of course) also makes him sad, since the more he drinks the less there is left. Bad news is I’ve decided it has to be the finest poem I’ve ever written, good news is I’m planning to write is while completely trashed.
